Ayatollah Sistani Offers Condolences over Demise of Ayatollah Rafsanjani
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s top Shia cleric and source of emulation Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani expressed condolences over the death of former Iranian president and chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
In a message, Ayatollah Sistani condoled with the family of the deceased and prayed to God to grant his soul blessing and mercy.
Ayatollah Rafsanjani died at a hospital in northern Tehran on Sunday at the age of 82 due to a heart condition.
His funeral was held on Tuesday in Tehran and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei led the funeral prayers at Tehran University.
