Registration Begins for Iranians’ Pilgrimage to Iraq’s Holy Sites in Muharram

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization announced the start of registration for pilgrimage to Iraqi holy cities during the first ten days of the lunar month of Muharram.

 

According to the organization, those willing to make the pilgrimage can register their name at the website of the organization starting on Sunday.

They will be sent to Iraq to visit the Arab country’s holy cities of Najaf, Karbala, Samarra and Kadhimiya.

Muharram is the first month on the lunar Hijri calendar (September 11-October 10 this year).

Every year in Muharram, Shia Muslims around the world hold ceremonies to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the 680AD Battle of Karbala.

Those who can visit the mausoleum of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala and other Shia holy sites in Iraq in this month of mourning.
