TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s representatives in the upcoming international Quran competition for the visually-impaired were selected.

According to the committee tasked with selecting the country’s contenders, Ahmad Dabbaq will compete for Iran in the category of Quran recitation.

In the memorization of the entire Quran category, Iran will be represented by Saeed Aliakbari.

The two were selected from among a group of 12 Qaris and memorizers from different parts of the country who had attended a special test on Monday and Tuesday.

Aliakbari is from the northwestern province of Qazvin while Dabbaq comes from the central province of Qom.

The 4th edition of the international Quran competition for the visually-impaired will be held in Tehran in April.

Tehran also hosted the third edition in April 2018 along with several other international Quranic events, including the 35th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Quran Competition.

Enhancing unity and solidarity among the visually-impaired in the Muslim world, providing a venue for cultural and scientific exchanges among them, promotion of the Quranic culture and teachings, and encouraging the visually-impaired to learn the Quran and attend Quranic activities are among the objectives of the event.
