Winners of Students Quran Contest in Iraq Honored

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The winners of the third edition of a Quran competition among teams from different universities of Iraq were honored at the closing ceremony.

 

The Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine organized the contest in cooperation with the Warith al-Anbiya University.

Ten teams from the universities of Babil, Baghdad, Karbala, Basra, Wasit, Muthanna, Warith al-Anbiya, and University of Technology were present in the Quranic contest, which began on Monday.

According to Sheikh Khayruddin al-Hadi, an official with the Dar-ol-Quran Center, the teams from the universities of Basra and Baghdad came first and second, respectively, dar-al-quran.org website reported.

Memorization, recitation and Tafseer (interpretation) of the Holy Quran were the main themes of the Quranic event.

It was aimed at promoting the Quranic culture in universities and academic centers and identifying Quranic talents among university students.

 

 

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
