Iranian, Turkish Officials Discuss Establishment of a World Body for Quran Contests

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian Quranic official in a recent visit to Turkey discussed with Turkish officials the need for establishing a world body to organize and supervise international Quran contests.

 

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, travelled to Turkey last month for the country’s 7th international Quran competition.

He was invited to the event by Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet).

During his stay there, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Hosseini held meetings with a number of officials, including Osman Sahin, head of the Department for Supervising Quran Printing.

In the meeting with Sahin, the two officials discussed the need for a world body for international Quran competitions.

Sahin, who has previously attended Iran’s international Quran competition, praised Iran for organizing the contest.

The 7th edition of Turkey’s international Quran competition was held in Istanbul in late May.

As many as 128 Quran activists from 68 countries took part in the international event.

The awarding ceremony, which was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Diyanet President Ali Erbas, was held on May 27.
