Top Students of University Quranic Courses Honored in Iraq

The Quranic courses for university students in Iraq concluded in a ceremony in the holy city of Karbala on Saturday.

Organized by the Astans (custodianships) of the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) on the occasion of Hazrat Zahra’s (SA) birthday, the ceremony was attended by some 800 students from 14 Iraqi universities who had taken the courses.
A number of religious figures and scholars from different academic centers were also present at the program.
It began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Iraqi Qari Sayyid Hassanayn Al-Hulw.
Next, Sheikh Salah Al-Khafaji, representing the Astans of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) delivered a speech in which he underlined the role of the Astans’ Quranic plans for universities in promoting the Quranic culture among university students.
Sheikh Hassan Al-Mansouri, head of the Dar-ul-Quran Center of the Astan of Imam Hussein (AS) was the next speaker who said various Quranic courses have been held by the center across Iraq this year with the aim of fostering the Quranic culture in academic centers.
He noted those who took the courses learned the principles of Quran recitation and were taught a number of Quranic sciences.
Later at the ceremony, top students of the courses received certificates of honor.
