--ISLAMIC Youth Association’s (IYA) Teens Circle held a children’s film festival as part of its summer campaign, Thiricharivu.
In a debate that followed the festival, participants expressed confidence that there was a future for value-oriented movies, particularly among youngsters.
The organisers said the children’s film festival was held to increase awareness about quality movies among youngsters. “This is more relevant since a number of movies these days are flooded with the stories of sex and crime,” said an organiser.
A V Mohammed Unny, a Doha-based actor, inaugurated the festival.
Unny appealed to the youngsters to have a better vision and make efforts to create short films picturing the real slice of life. Children who attended the three-day event also had an opportunity to participate in active reviewing of some films that were screened at the event.
M Rafeeque, Faheed, Naseeh, Shamel and Aslam spoke in a review session.
Two Iranian films, Children’s Heaven and Colour of Paradise, went down well with the participants.
Other films shown were Lassies, Green School and a documentary on Sasya Keralam. An educative session was also held, featuring various aspects of film direction and story writing. T K Abdu Salam spoke.
Mustafa Mangada was the chief guest.
