Jordanian Committee Warns Against Further Excavations Near Al Aqsa Mosque
--The Jordanian Committee for Al-Quds Affairs warned the Israeli Authority against carrying out any further excavation works in the Holy city of Jerusalem.
"The Israeli intention to continue excavations under the Al Aqsa Mosque and dig tunnels connecting the holy mosque with the Dome of Rock, will demolish Islamic sites including the Gate of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) from where the ascent of the Prophet Muhammad to the heaven had assumed to have taken place in the night of ascension," said the committee in a press statement in Aman.
The committee reiterated that these activities will not be well received by 1.6 billion Muslims as Jerusalem especially the Old Town is entirely an Islamic Endowment and sacred to the Arabs, Muslims and Christian alike. "Any activity that leads to the destruction of Islamic and Christian sacred sites will generate more violence, hatred and resistance from future generations, " the committee said.
