Over thirty Quran reciters and memorizers from various cities competed to qualify for representing Zimbabwe in Tehran Quran Contest.
Welcoming the participants in the qualifying contest, Abdullah Makwinja dean of the Islamic college of Zimbabwe, considered such Quranic activities as important in promoting Islamic values.
Addressing the contestants, Mohammad Hassan Ipakchi Iran Cultural Attaché said that those who would attend the Tehran competition would be representing the Muslim minority in the South of Africa.
The 26th edition of international Quran Competition will be held in Tehran by the Owqaf and Charity Affairs Organization from July 19 to 24.
