Int’l Unity Conference Kicks off in Tehran

--The 23rd international Conference on Islamic Unity kicked off this morning with the theme of “Islamic Ummah, from religious diversity to sectarianism.”
The conference began with a speech by Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani chairman of the Assembly of Experts and the Expediency Council.
Organized by the Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, it is underway at Tehran international conferences hall and will run until March 4.
Experts and scholars from more than 40 countries are attending the three-day conference. The foreign guests visited the mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic yesterday to renew allegiance with the aspirations of the late Imam.
Participants at the 23rd international Islamic Unity Conference discuss topics like natural interactions among religious sects, establishing Quranic dialogue, development of comparative research, highlighting the commonalities among different Islamic schools of thought, reasons of tendency towards sectarianism, and symptoms and consequences of sectarianism.
