During a visit to the Iranian Quran News Agency, Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh said that the holy Quran has used environmental symbols to introduce Heaven and its features as well as distinguish between good and evil. “Many of the figures mentioned in the Holy Book are also those who have positive interactions with the environment.”
He said that Quranic guidelines on environment protection have been given in a simple language so that people at every level of knowledge can benefit from them.
“It is necessary for us to further introduce Quranic concepts regarding the environment,” he urged.
“Fortunately, a number of scholars have written good works in this field, including Ayatollah Javadi Amoli who has penned a book on the environment from Islamic perspectives. Also in the field of the Fiqh of environment good steps have been taken and there are plans for launching a major in universities featuring Islam’s views on the environment.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mr. Mohammadizadeh stressed that the Noble Quran is a book of guidance for all aspects of life, one which provides a roadmap for humanity. “Its teachings should therefore be present in all areas of life.
He also praised IQNA for disseminating Quranic and Islamic news and urged the news agency to strive more to promote the Quranic culture and teachings in society.
