Mashhad to Host 9th Quranic Arts and Sciences Festival

-- A festival of Quranic sciences is to be held in Mashhad to promote and propagate Quranic activities among different classes of people especially the younger generation.
This is according to Mohammad Kazem Dabiri, head of Mashhad’s Culture and Islamic Guidance Office, who told IQNA that the 9th Festival of Quranic Arts and Sciences will be held in 16 categories in the holy city of Mashhad.
“The festival is intended to promote the Quranic culture among the public; propagate and foster the Islamic teachings; reiterate spiritual values featuring; provide proper motivations for the youth to contemplate the Quranic verses; introduce provincial Quranic centers and activists; and encourage the whole society especially the academic, religious and cultural bodies to carry out extensive research on the Quranic concepts,” he added.
Referring to the different themes of the festival, he said, “It includes Quranic arts featuring Quranic stories about the lives of the prophets especially Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as well as other Quranic characters, Quranic parables, and Quranic concepts in both individual and social spheres with an emphasis on intensified effort and labor, respecting the law, social order, having a good conscience, etc.”
He further referred to the categories of the festival and said they include short films, short documentaries, animations and video clips.
The important status of the holy Quran in the world, Quran reciters and memorizers; knowing the enemy; heaven and hell, and the role of the leader in the Quran are among the themes of the festival.
Organized by the Culture and Islamic Guidance Office in the holy city of Mashhad, the festival will be held with the cooperation of the cultural deputy of the city’s municipality, Astan Quds Razavi, and the general office of Awqaf and Charity Affairs in the province.
