The 19th International Holy Quran Exhibition’s international section was inaugurated during a ceremony Wednesday night.
A number of officials including the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Tehran substitute Friday prayer leader, as well as guests from other countries took part in the ceremony.
The Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini at the function said that the annual exhibition is a venue for familiarizing Muslims of other countries with the Quranic achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran and providing an opportunity for other countries’ Muslims to display their Quranic works.
He pointed to the Supreme Leader’s meeting with members of the country’s Quranic community earlier this week and said, “At the meeting, the Supreme Leader highlighted the need for training ten million memorizers of the Holy Quran in the country and thus encouraged the Quranic community in their efforts.
“With such a perspective, we should create an atmosphere in which our youths and teenagers are encouraged to learn the Holy Quran by heart so that we can thwart the cultural onslaughts of the enemies of Islam and Muslims.”
Mr. Hosseini also referred to the daily release of Quran translations and interpretations at the exhibition, saying that the Quran should be rendered into all languages of the world.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Culture Minister thanked the Islamic Culture and Relations for contributing to organization of the international section.
Also speaking at the inauguration ceremony was director of the international section Ali Reza Esmaeeli.
He said representatives of 20 countries are taking part in the international section, adding that it features works in three fields of Quranic research, Quran translation and publication and Quranic art.
