A scientific forum on the role and influence of women in the world’s development was held on May 21 in Bangkok, Thailand.
According to IQNA’s ICRO branch, the day-long program was attended by Muslim and Buddhist academic figures.
Addressing the forum, Mostafa Najjariyanzadeh, Iranian cultural attaché in Thailand talked about women’s role in the world’s developments from the view of Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Supreme Leader Imam Khamenei.
He said that God, the Almighty, revealed Surah Kowthar on the occasion of Hazrat Zahra's (AS) birth at a time when girls were considered to be a source of shame for their family in the Arab world.
He also said that: “Imam Khomeini (RA) believed that women can play a very influential role in the establishment of an Islamic society and has said ‘a man gains ascension from the lap of a woman’ which implies that the overall growth and salvation of a society depends largely on the status of women."
The Iranian official said that this view towards women drew a new picture of a Muslim woman for the world and proved the active presence of women in various scientific, social and political arenas while observing Islamic principles.
He also noted that women so far have made significant contributions to the victory of the popular Islamic Awakening Tide sweeping the region.
A seminar featuring the influence of Islamic revolution on Muslim women in the world was also held on the sidelines of the forum with the participation of the president of Al-Mahdiyyah Seminary School, lecturer of the Literature Faculty of Chulalongkorn University, lecturer of Srinakharinwirot University and director of The Institute of Religion, Culture and Peace at Payap University in Chiang Mai.
