Algeria’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs said 500 copies of the Quran containing printing errors have been recalled in the country.
Bouabdallah Ghlamallah said the number of copies containing errors was not 200,000 as reported earlier but only 500, algeriesoir website reported.
The number of 200,000 Holy Quran copies containing paging errors is "exaggerated," said Ghlamallah adding that the 500 copies had been already recalled.
He said that as soon as the existence of errors in the copies was discovered a call was issued for recalling the copies and then the errors were corrected by imams in mosques.
Ghlamallah asked those who have received free copies of the Quran to inform the concerning officials if they see any printing errors in the copy they have.
