Indonesia Hosts “Woman and Family” Int’l Conference

TEHRAN (IQNA) - An international conference titled “Woman and Family in View of Ja’fari and Shafi’i Schools of Thought” was held Tuesday, March 17, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

 According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the program was organized with the cooperation of the Iranian Cultural Center in Jakarta.

The Sunan Kalijaga Islamic University hosted the event which was attended by the cultural deputy of the Iranian Judiciary as well as the governor of Jogjakarta province.
23 papers in Indonesian, English and Arabic had been submitted to the secretariat of the conference from among which 10 works have been published.
Reza Berenjkar, head of the Quran and Hadith Research Center and Sobhani Niya, deputy of cultural affairs and international relations of Dar-ol-Hadith Center presented papers on the “Causes of Strengthening and Weakening of Family according to Hadiths” and “Status of Woman in Islam According to Ja’fari School of Thought”.
Seyyed Ahmad Habibnezhad, deputy of the Research Center of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, discussed “The Rights of Family in Ja’fari Fiqh (jurisprudence)”.
Taking into account that enemies of Islam try to create divisions among Islamic schools of thought, organization of such programs could be very effective in enhancing unity among Muslims.
