Indonesian Quran Activists to Attend Iran’s Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A number of Indonesian Quran experts, reciters and memorizers will participate in the 32nd international Quran competition in Iran.

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Iranian Cultural Center in Jakarta will cooperate in dispatching the Indonesian Quranic delegation to Iran.
The group will comprise Peep Jalaluddin Ruba’yi, the first-rank winner in memorization category of the national Quran memorization competition in Indonesia in 2014, Ja’far Hasibuan, the top winner in recitation category of the competition, and ‘Aqeel Munawwar, a former Indonesian cabinet minister and an expert in Quran and Hadith sciences who has been invited to be a member of the jury panel in this edition of Iran's Int'l Quran competition.
The 32nd international Quran competition in Iran will be organized by the Ministry of Awqaf and Chaity Affairs on May 15-23 in the capital city of Tehran.
Muhammad Hanafi, head of the Quran Committee of Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs will be another Indonesian figure who will represent his country in a scholarly forum on “The Mushafs Published in Iran” to be held as a sideline program of the competition from May 13 to 15.
Among the sideline programs of the international Quran competition will be a specialized ceremony to honor female Quran activists.
Prof. Amany Lubis, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University in Jakarta, who is a member and deputy of the secretary general of Indonesia’s Council of Scholars (Majlis al-'Ulama), will be honored in the program.
The main objectives of the international Quran competitions include disseminating the noble Quranic culture in the Islamic society, promoting unity in the Muslim world, developing the quality of Quran memorization and recitation and providing an opportunity for Quran activists to exchange experience.
