According to Al-Arab newspaper, the competition has been planned for male and female students of Quran memorization centers affiliated to Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
Registration for the competition is underway since August 9 and continues until August 20.
Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad bin Ghanim Al Thani, head of the supervising committee of the Quranic event, said that the students will compete in three levels.
The first level of the competition includes memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed and interpretation of the 30th Juz (part), memorization of 25 Juzes with Tajweed and interpretation of Surah “A’la” to “Nas” and memorization of 20 Juzes with Tajweed and interpretation of Surah “Zuha” to “Nas”.
The categories of the second level includes memorization of 15, 10, 5 and 3 Juzes as well as the 30th Juz of the Quran with observation of Tajweed principles.
He added that the third level of the competition will be held on recitation of the entire Quran with Tajweed principles as instructed in the book titled “Tuhfa Al-Atfal” for teenagers above 15 years of age, recitation of 15 Juzes of Quran for those aged between 9 to 14 and recitation of the 30th Juz for children less than 8.
He also said that on the sidelines of the competition, an online encyclopedia of Nabawi Sunnah titled “Maganim” will be published at http://www.mganim.net/hadith.
A course on Nabawi Hadiths is another sideline program of the competition. Top Quran memorizers of the previous editions of the Quranic event will also be honored.
The second stage of the competition will be held from October 19 to 21.
Radisson Blu Hotel and the Quranic Center of Bint Muhammad Museum in Doha will host the closing ceremony of the competition respectively for male and female participants on November 5.
