Nat’l Quran Competition Begins in Bahrain

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The semi-final stage of the 9th edition of “Iqra” national Quran memorization and recitation competition for Shia Mslims in Bahrain began on August 30 in Manama, the capital.


According to Qaf news agency, this stage as well as the final stage of the Quranic event will be hosted by Al-Sanabis Husseyniyya in the west of the city.





“Iqra” Society for Quran Sciences in Bahrain has organized the competition which will continue until September 7.





Male participants in different age groups compete in memorization and recitation of the Quran.





Some eminent Shia figures such as Sheikh Ahmad Amrullah, Sheikh Fadhil Al-Zaki, Sheikh Hassan Al-Banna, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Safa, Sheikh Ali Rahmah, Sheikh Baqir Al-Hawaj and a number of top Bahraini Quran reciters will take presence in the competition.





A Quranic forum has been planned on the sidelines of the competition which will be attended by Sheikh Abduljalil Al-Makrani, the head of “Hazrat Roqayya (SA)”Quranic Association in the holy city of Qom, Sheikh Radhi Al-Qafas, and Sheikh Abd Ali Dhayf.





An international Quranic session will also be held as another sideline program on September 7.





More than 2000 Quran activists from different parts of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait participated in the preliminary stage of the competition.
