16th Moscow Int’l Quran Contest Kicks off in Russian Capital

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 16th edition of Moscow International Holy Quran Competition was opened in the Russian capital city on Friday morning.

According to the Iranian Cultural Center in Moscow, the competition will run for three days at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow.

 

The final round will be held on Sunday, October 11, after noon prayers.

 

The annual Quranic event is organized by Russia’s Muftis Council for Quran activists from different countries.


Representatives of 40 countries are taking part in the international Quran competition this year.

 

Musa Motamedi is representing the Islamic Republic of Iran in the contest.

 

Born in 1988 in the holy city of Qom, 150 km south of Tehran, Motamedi came second in the memorization of the entire Quran category of the national Quran competition in 2013.

 

Last year, Mehdi Gholamnejad was Iran’s representative in Moscow International Quran Competition.

 

He managed to win the second title in the category of Quran recitation.
