TEHRAN (IQNA) – Tunisian authorities have seized copies of the Quran with printing errors.

The North African country’s religious affairs ministry said the copies have been published by the Dar-ol-Fikr Publications in Lebanon.

It said they contain many obvious printing errors, the Tunisien news website reported.

The ministry added that the copies are in the country’s market despite lack of permission from the Supreme Islamic Council of Tunisia.

The council had banned distribution of the Quran copies in 2012 due to the misprints in them.

The ministry called on the bookstores not to sell these copies of the Quran and asked the citizens who have bought them to deliver the copies to religious affairs departments.

It also called on preachers and prayers leaders of mosques across Tunisia to check the copies of the Quran in mosques to make sure they don’t contain printing errors.
