Saeed Bin Jubair Int’l Quranic Festival Concludes in Iraq

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The fourth edition of the Saeed Bin Jubair Quranic International Quranic Festival came to an end on Thursday, March 10.

The closing ceremony was held in the city of Kut, Wasit province. It included a report by Natiq al-Zarkani, head of the supervising committee, and recitation of verses from the Quran by Iranian Quran master Hamid Shakernejad as well as Iraqi Qari Sayyed Hassanayn al-Hilwe.

Al-Zarkani told IQNA that represantatives of 20 countries were also honored at the ceremony.

They included Hannaneh Khalfi, the youngest Iranian memorizer of the entire Holy Quran, he said.

Present were also a number of Iraqi political, cultural and religious figures.

The Quranic festival was held across four Iraqi provinces from March 8 to 10.

It was organized in coordination with local government bodies and religious shrines in Najaf, Karbala, and Baghdad.

The event was aimed at developing Quranic activities in society, a-Zarkani said.

He added that 60 Quran recitation sessions were held during the festival with the participation of Iraqis from different walks of life.
