Addressing a large number of the seminary’s students and instructors on Tuesday, the Leader described the role as unique and influential.
Had it not been for the Islamic Seminary of Qom, perhaps the Islamic movement would not have succeeded, His Eminence added.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that what caused people to take to streets and stage massive rallies was the influence of seminary students who took the message of Imam Khomeini (RA) to the farthest corners of the country.
The Leader underlined that the Islamic Seminary of Qom should remain revolutionary and continue its role as the cradle of the Islamic Revolution.
The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 36 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.
The Islamic Revolution, spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini (RA), established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
Elsewhere in the address, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the enmities against the Islamic Republic, stressing that Iran’s resistance against the hegemonic power is the main reason behind these hostilities.
"Were it not for this resistance, … the hegemonic system would have no opposition to you,” His Eminence underlined.
Before the Leader’s speech, Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseininejad, head of the Association of Students and Scholars of Qom Islamic Seminary presented a report on the activities and programs of the association.
