He said that after assuming Hezbollah’s leadership, he would receive recommendations from Ayatollah Bahjat who would always call for trust in God.
Ayatollah Bahjat was a top Iranian Shia cleric well-known for his piety and the strict observance of the principles of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence).
He passed away at the age of 96 in Qom in May 2009.
Born in the northern Iranian city of Fouman in Guilan Province, Ayatollah Bahjat was among one of the most revered Iranian clerics whose religious decrees were followed by many Shia Muslims.
Nasrallah further referred to the Zionist regime’s 33-day war against Hezbollah and noted that Ayatollah Bahjat had informed him in the early days of the war of the victory of the resistance movement.
The Zionist regime of Israel launched two wars on Lebanon in 2000 and 2006. About 1,200 Lebanese, most of them civilians, lost their lives during the 33-day war in the summer of 2006.
On both occasions, Hezbollah fighters gave befitting responses to the Tel Aviv regime’s acts of aggression, forcing the Israeli military to retreat without achieving any of its objectives.
