"We are sensitive when it comes to the
printing and distribution of Quranic texts and materials that can be harmful to
the people's welfare," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Among the common mistakes committed under the
Printing of Quranic Text Act 1986 (APTQ) are printing Quranic texts without
licence, importing the Quran illegally and mistakes in the Quran copies.
Alwi said MOHA's role is to regulate and ensure
that Quranic texts and materials published, printed, imported and distributed,
do not contain errors that can affect the Quran, to ensure its authenticity and
to prevent abuse.
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that those
who come across Quranic texts and materials containing errors or without the
endorsement of the Quran Control and Printing Licensing Board should report at
03-88868047, fax to 03-88891682 or visit the ministry's website
(moha.spab.gov.my).
