During the visit on Saturday morning, he toured IQNA’s different desks and learned about their activities.
Teofanov also told IQNA about his activities, including the Quran translation, saying it is the first academic rendering of the Holy Book into the Bulgarian language.
He added that he is currently writing a book titled Prophet as a Religious Phenomenon” in Bulgarian as well as a book on ancient Arab civilization.
Speaking at a forum at the 29th Tehran International Book Fair earlier this week, Teofanov said the translation of Quran helped him and some others in his country to find the right path and convert to Islam.
"When I started translating the Quran, I was a Christian from a Christian family and living in Christian country. Then (following the translation), I converted to Islam and some of my countrymen also embraced Islam after reading the rendering.”
Teofanov, a classical Arabic studies lecturer works in the Department of Classic Arabic Literature at Sofia University, gives lectures in Quran and Quranic exegesis.
He finished his specialization doctorate at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies as well as second doctorate at the Moscow Oriental Studies Institute.
