Speaking to IQNA, Samih Ahmed Khalid Othamana described the warm reception as the common characteristics of the international Quran competitions of Iran and Malaysia.

Othamana noted that he has served as a member of the panel of judges in 13 countries and that it is the fifth time he is taking part in Iran’s competition as a judge.

He said that given his experience, he can say the regulations of Iran’s competition are the most elaborate and well-defined.

The Jordanian Quran expert also described the level of the contest as high and said the fact that it has been held annually in the past 33 years without a stop is a great success.

The contest is also exceptional in terms of the number of participants and the presence of young Quran memorizers and reciters, he added.

Referring to the motto of this year’s contest, namely "One Book, One Ummah”, he said it is one of the most beautiful mottos that can be selected for a Quran competition.

This motto beautifully reflects the Quranic motto of unity and holding firmly to the Rope of God, he said.

Othamana lauded the Islamic Republic of Iran’s efforts to promote Islamic unity and noted that these efforts are manifested in international conferences, forums and competitions.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Jordanian expert highlighted the Islamic Republic’s resolve to promote Quranic activities in societies, including the plan for training 10 million Quran memorizers and said it has yielded good results seen in the success of Iran’s representatives in international Quranic events.

Iran’s 33rd International Quran Contest is underway at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) and will run until Tuesday.

Representatives of more than 70 countries are taking part in this year’s edition of the annual Quran contest.
