Int’l Quran Contest Participants to Meet with Leader of Islamic Revolution

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The contenders and members of the panel of judges of Iran’s 33rd International Holy Quran Competition will meet with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday.


The officials of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, the organizer of the contest, and a number of Iranian Quran activists will also be present at the meeting.

The 33rd edition of the international competition was held in the Iranian capital of Tehran on May 11-17.

Winners of the two categories of the contest were announced and awarded at the closing ceremony on Tuesday night.

Some 130 Quran reciters and memorizers from over 70 countries took part in the competition.

The motto of this year’s contest was "One Book, One Ummah”, highlighting the need for the Muslim Ummah to unite based on the teachings of the Holy Book.
