TEHRAN (IQNA) – Governor KK Paul inaugurated a two-day exhibition on “Holy Quran in The Mirror of Calligraphic Art”, organized by Tasmia All-India Education and Social Welfare Society in Dehradun on Saturday.

Quran Exhibition Launched in Dehradun, India

The exhibition features Quran written on date palm leaves, leather and stone slates, the first published ‘satranga Quran’ in India (published on January 26, 1907), the smallest Quran, a Quran written by Aurangzeb and various artistically produced ancient copies of the Holy Book with exquisite calligraphy.

Paul said in the holy month of Ramadan, the exhibition was a national treasure and a unique collection. Such fine and artistic calligraphy could not be seen in any other language of the world.

He congratulated Dr S Farooq, chairman of Tasmia Society, and said the treasure should be enriched further as it would keep alive the ancient culture and civilization and teach the young generation a lot.

The governor added that the exhibits were unique and some were of the kind which could not be seen even in the largest museums of the country.

He greeted all present and the ‘rozedars’ (those fasting) for Ramadan and prayed for peace and harmony.
