TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first edition of a Quran recitation competition in Iraqi style was organized in Basra Province of Iraq.

According to Qaaf news agency, "Al-Safa Al-Rouhi” Quranic Institute affiliated to the Quran Activists Association of the region held the competition.

30 Quran reciters of 15 Quranic institutes of the province participated in the competition supervised by a group of Quran experts including Sheikh Abu Muntadhar Al-Shamkhani, in Tajweed principles, Abdul Aziz Al-Abdullah, in Lahn, Muhammad Abdulsadah, in Sowt and Mustafa Abdulsadah in Waqf and Ibtida.

Mustafa Taha from Al-Imam Al-Muntadhar Institute, Ahmad Fathi from the Dar-ol-Quran of Al-Qarna city of Basra, Abdul Hussein from Ushaq Al-Quran Al-Karim Institute, Muhammad Qahtan from Wahah Al-Quran Al-Karim and Muhammad Sattar Jabbar from Al-Imam Al-Muntadhar Institute won the first to the fifth ranks.
