Tajweed Workshop Planned in Senegal
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Senegal plans to host a workshop on Tajweed principles and Quran recitation starting on August 1.
According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the educational program will be held by the Iranian Cultural Center in Dakar.
The National Union of Quranic Schools and Institutes of the West African country will also cooperate in organizing the workshop.
30 Senegalese Quran teachers will participate in the classes, which will be instructed by Majid Zakilu, Iranian Quran expert and Qari.
The six-day workshop will continue until August 6.
Senegal is a country on Africa’s west coast. Islam is the predominant religion in the country. 92 percent of Senegal’s population is estimated to be Muslim.
Islam has had a presence in Senegal since 11th century C.E.
