TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian official said a copy of the Quran in Indian script is planned to be printed in the country.

Mohamamd Babaei, executive director of the Center for Printing and Publication of the Quran, told Farsnews.com that the copy has been calligraphed by Ali Reza Takdeqghan, one of the center’s calligraphers and will be unveiled soon.

He noted that there are millions of Muslims living in the Indian subcontinent and there have been many requests for making such a copy available.

Babaei added that it is planned to be distributed in Pakistan and India.

According to some estimates, there are more than 180 million Muslims living in India, making up roughly 15 percent of the population.

Pakistan, meanwhile, is a Muslim-majority country (some 97 percent are Muslim) with a population of around 182 million.
