TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition was held for Muslim youth in Dearborn, Michigan.

It was organized on the sidelines of the 12th Annual National Muslim Congress Conference, held in Dearborn on August 5-7.

According to muslimcongress.org, it was managed under the auspices of world-renowned Qari, HI Abazar Wahedi.

There were two age groups and three categories for Quran competition.

Contenders aged 16 years and below competed in memorization (Hifz) of one Juz (part), recitation (Qiraat) of Juz 30, and commentary (Tafseer) of Surahs Al-Masad, Al-Fil, Al-Kafiroun, Al-Nasr,and Al-Ma’oun.

In the second age group, those over 16 years competed in memorization of two consecutive Juzes, recitation of Juzes 29, 30, and Tafseer of Surahs Al-Naba’ and Al-Insaan.

The competition was judged based on Hafs from A’asem recitation.

The 12th Annual National Muslim Congress Conference was attended by a myriad of scholars who addressed various topics at the conference’s breakout sessions.

Other events at the conference included Heavenly Match (a marriage service), a Poetry Slam organized by the youth, a medical camp arranged by physicians who volunteer their time and expertise for medical check-up, and an Art Contest for all age groups.
