The association, which held a meeting in the capital Sana’a, said scholars and thinkers of Yemen and other Muslim world countries need to stand beside the Yemeni people who are under brutal attacks and a cruel blockade imposed by Saudi Arabia and its allies, al-Hayat daily reported.
It also urged unity among all Yemeni groups and people to safeguard the country’s stability and independence.
The association further called on the people of Yemen to take part in nationwide rallies on Saturday to voice support for creation of a supreme political council to run the country and resist the US-Saudi aggression on Yemen.
Participants in the meeting also condemned the continuation of raids on schools and hospitals in Yemen by the Riyadh regime.
Yemen has been under Saudi military strikes since late March 2015. The war was launched in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and to reinstate Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who has stepped down as Yemen’s president but is now seeking to grab power by force.
The air campaign, carried out without any international mandate, has killed about 10,000 people, most of them civilians, according to local Yemeni sources.
