TEHRAN (IQNA) – A national competition on Quran memorization, recitation and interpretation titled “Thaqalayn” has been organized for women in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.

According to Qaaf news agency, the "Nur Al-Zahra (SA)” Quranic Institute is holding the competition, which started on Sunday, August 28.

Iraqi female Quran activists compete in memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 20 Juzes (parts) of the Quran and Tajweed recitation.

A seminar on "Quranic activities of women in Iraq and ways to develop such activities” will be organized on the sidelines of the competition.

The institute has also planned a tour for the participants to visit a "pilgrims town" built in the holy city of Karbala to accommodate the pilgrims of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine. 

The competition will continue for four days and the awarding ceremony will be held on August 31.
