According to the Yeni Safak newspaper, the courses began on June 20 in mosques and Quranic centers across the province and concluded in late August.

They were warmly received by citizens of all ages, according to the organizers.

Burhan Isliyen, the Mufti of Diyarbakir, hailed the organization of the courses and underlined the need for promotion of Quranic and religious teachings.

He said that the end of the courses does not mean the end of learning the Quran but that one should take every opportunity to enhance their Quranic knowledge.

He also praised the rising number of participants in the courses compared to the year before.

Quranic and religious activities in Turkey are carried out by or under the supervision of the country’s Presidency of Religious Affairs, known as Diyanet.
