Nationwide Quran Contest for Women Wraps Up in Tehran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The tenth edition of a Quran competition organized by Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center for women concluded in a ceremony in Tehran on Friday.

A number of Quranic and religious officials, including Tehran interim Friday prayers leader Hojat-ol-Islam Kazem Sediqi, Head of the Dar-ol-Quran Al-Karim Organization Mehdi Qarasheikhlu, and director of Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center Morteza Najafi Qodsi attended the closing function.

It began with playing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s national anthem followed by a clip featuring the activities of Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center.

Then a message by Shia source of emulation Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi was read out. The senior cleric in his message lauded the organizers of the Quranic program and called for contemplating the Quran and acting upon its teachings.

Najafi Qodsi then took the podium and presented a report on the organization of the competition.

He said some 5200 women from different parts of the country took part in different stages of the tenth edition of the contest, which set a record.

There were also a number of women from other countries attending the Quranic event, he noted.

At the end of the program, winners of the top titles in different categories of the competition, including memorization of the Quran and recitation, were awarded.
