TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Purdue University Muslim Student Association in Indiana, the United States, will be holding its annual Islamic Awareness Week Oct. 24-28.

Islamic Awareness Week to Take Place at Purdue

A tent will be located on the Purdue Memorial Mall with displays and free brochures. People will have the opportunity to ask questions about Islam and meet with Muslim students at Purdue.

Special guest presentations will be given Monday through Thursday at 6:00 p.m. inside Purdue’s Lynn Hall located at 625 Harrison St. in West Lafayette.

Former Indiana State University women’s basketball player Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir will speak on Monday. Abdul-Qaadir was a special guest of President Obama at the White House in 2009.

Tuesday will feature be a calligraphy artist. Visitors can learn about scientific contributions of Muslims Wednesday, and a panel discussion will be hosted by Muslim women Thursday.

A public sermon on Friday will showcase what a Muslim prayer looks like.

"The Purdue Muslim Student Association’s Annual Islamic Awareness Week is about educating the public about what Islam truly is from actual Muslims studying and living here at Purdue and the Greater Lafayette area,” said Purdue Muslim Student Association outreach director, Enosh Kazem.

The Purdue Muslim Student Association is an organization aimed at creating a healthy atmosphere for spiritual growth and educating the greater Purdue and Lafayette communities about the true teachings of Islam.
