TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has published a book to teach the Quran and Arabic language to speakers of English.

Named Alefba, the book includes various chapters aimed at facilitating the process of learning the Quran for non-Arabic speakers, according to masrawy.com website.

Turkey has sent the book to different countries, including Canada, Sweden, the United States, Switzerland, Britain and Japan.

Diyanet, in cooperation with Turkey’s Awqaf department, has started a campaign called "Let my Gift be a Quran”.

It collects donations received for this campaign and gives free copies of the Noble Quran to the people and organizations requesting the copies, both in Turkey and abroad.

In addition, an official with Diyanet said earlier this year that the country has plans to publish the Quran’s translations in 180 languages and send copies of them to other countries.

Mazhar Bilgin in March expressed hope that translation and publication of the Quran in 180 languages spoken around the world will be done in the near future.

He noted that the Quran’s renderings into English, French, Russian, Spanish, Kyrgyz, Bulgarian, Kazakh, and Bosnian have already been completed.

Bilgin went on to say that Diyanet seeks to provide translations of the Quran for speakers of all languages.

In February, Yildiray Kaplan, another Diyanet official, said, "We do aim to translate and gradually publish the Holy Quran in all the languages spoken in the world.”

The project to publish Quran in foreign languages is part of a campaign that Diyanet launched in recent years.

The project's motto is "Do not let any language remain without the Quran’s message.”

The copies in different languages will be sent to countries where these languages are spoken. Anyone who wants to read the Muslim Holy Book will also have access to a digital translation, according to Diyanet.
