Defending his programs as a nominee for the job before the Iranian parliament gave him the vote of confidence on Tuesday, Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri said he would enhance activities in Quranic and religious fields during his term as minister.
The culture ministry will also work to safeguard religious values, stressing that religious boundaries should be respected in all cultural areas.
Salehi Amiri was one of President Hassan Rouhani’s picks for three ministries who received the parliament’s vote of confidence on Tuesday.
The lawmakers gave their approval to him with 180 yes votes, 89 no votes and 6 abstentions.
He was introduced by the president as the nominee for the post after former culture minister Ali Jannati’s resignation.
