Syria at Forefront of Fighting Terrorism, Zionism
Speaking at a meeting with Syria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in Tehran, Larijani regretted the role of certain regional states and global powers in fanning the flames of conflicts in Syria and stressed Iran’s continued support for the Arab country.
"The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is fighting terrorism and restoring security to the region,” he said.
He also underlined the need for unity of Islamic countries to resolve the current problems in the Muslim world.
Mekdad, for his part, described Iran as a major country in the region and Muslim world and lauded Tehran for standing by the Syrian government and people in hard times.
He further called for more extensive efforts in the Muslim world and the region against terrorist groups.
