TEHRAN (IQNA) – Participants in the 10th round of Iran-Vatican Interfaith Dialogue underlined the need for efforts to counter extremism in the world.

Issuing a statement at the end of the forum on Wednesday, they also stressed the need for a rational approach to religion in order to promote religious values and prevent extremism, the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) reported.

The participants agreed to hold the next round of the dialogue in Tehran in 2018.

Meanwhile, ICRO Chief Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman and his accompanying delegation who travelled to the Vatican to attend the two-day dialogue, met with Pope Francis on Wednesday.

The 10th edition of Iran-Vatican interreligious dialogue was held in the Vatican City on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Extremism and Violence in the Name of Religion; Which Approach to Religion” was the theme of the forum.
