Razi was a prominent Quran reciter who traveled to 30 countries in the world to recite the Quran.

He was born in July 1936 in Shibramnet Village, Egypt’s Giza governorate.

Encouraged by his parents, Abdul Wahid started learning the Quran by heart at an early age and managed to memorize the entire Holy Book at 9.

He then learned Quran recitation with local Qaris like Sheikh Seyed Mustafa Limoun and Sheikh Abdul Hamid Ghali.

Soon he became a well-known Qari in the entire Giza governorate.

In 1975, Abdul Wahid started recitation of the Quran as an official Qari of Egypt’s national radio and also in official ceremonies, Friday prayers, and elsehwere.

He was the official Qari of Cairo’s Salaheddin Mosque from 1987 until his death.

According to one of his friends, late master Abdul Wahid Zaki Razi was mostly interested in listening to recitations by another prominent Egyptian Qari, late master Mustafa Esmail.
