The competition was held earlier this month by Minbar ul-Qura Institute in commemoration of late Kuwaiti Qari Sheikh Hamid Murad Ishkinani.
It was a phone-in contest in which participants sent their recorded recitation of verses 117 to 121 of Surah al-Tawba to the organizing committee.
Qaris from Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Egypt had made it to the final round of the contest, according to Qaaf news agency.
At the end of the competition, Zayd Suleiman from Kuwait bagged the top prize while Qassim al-Qatari from Bahrain and Muhammad Annas from Egypt came second and third.
Sheikh Hamid Murad Ishkinani was a prominent Qari and memorizer of the entire Quran.
Born in 1955, he was a pioneer in Quranic activities in the Persian Gulf Arab country.
He travelled to different countries for recitation of the Quran and also served as a member of the jury panel in different Quran contests, including the 32nd international Holy Quran competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
