TEHRAN (IQNA) – An exhibition of Quranic calligraphy works by an Iranian artist was opened on February 14 at the University of The Philippines (UP) in Quezon City, the Philippines.

The Iranian Cultural Center in the Southeast Asian country has mounted the exhibition in cooperation with the UP and the Friendship Association of Iran and the Philippines.

It was opened in a ceremony with the presence of Mohammad Tanhayi, Iran’s ambassador to Manila, Mohammad Jafar Malik, Iran’s cultural attaché, and the head of the Center for Asian Studies of the UP.

Calligraphy works by Iranian artist Tandis Taqavi are on display at the exhibition.

The artworks include the calligraphy of the Imam Ali (AS) supplication and forty verses of the Holy Quran beginning with the words "Rabbana” and "Ya Rabb”.

Joefe Santoria, the head of the center, thanked the Iranian Cultural Center for holding the exhibition and asked the center to organize a calligraphy workshop for the students of the university.

The Iranian ambassador praised the Iranian artist’s works and described art as a medium for promoting relation among nations.

Taqawi in an address talked about the history of calligraphy in Iran and said that her main objective was to introduce the Iranian art and Islamic culture to the students of the university.
