According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Seyyed Hassan Esmati, Iranian cultural attaché in Senegal, presented a speech in the opening ceremony of the forum.
He hailed the efforts made by Senegalese people and government, particularly the religious leaders of the country, for developing the culture of peace and dialogue.
The forum was also attended by Motaqedi, head of Al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Senegal, a number of Iranian academic, religious and cultural figures as well as representatives from Mauritania, the UAE, and Turkey.
Senegal is a Muslim-majority country in West Africa. Followers of Islam make up over 90 percent of the country's population.
