TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some 400 Quran activists from different countries are expected to attend international Quran competitions in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the coming months, an official said.

Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi made the remark in a meeting with grand source of emulation Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani on Thursday.

He noted that representatives of 74 countries will travel to the country for different competitions.

According to Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi, they include the 34th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Quran Competition.

It will be held in the capital Tehran for a week, starting from April 19, he said.

The first international Quran contest for women will also be organized in that period for the first time, he added.

There will be also an international Quran competition for the visually-impaired and one for school students, the official stated.

As for other activities of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi said it plans a conference entitled "Quran and Revolution Culture”.

Some 400 papers by Iranian scholars and 100 by scholars from other countries have been submitted to the secretariat of the event so far, he went on to say.
