Seventy Memorizers, Reciters to Attend Int’l Quran Contest for School Students

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Students from 40 countries are scheduled to take part in the 5th International Quran Competition for School Students, head of the organizing committee said.

Mohammad Reza Mosayyebzadeh told IQNA that the contest will start at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) on April 20.

He said some 70 school students from 40 countries will be attending the international Quranic event.

According to Mosayyebzadeh, the competition is aimed at promoting Quranic activities, deepening religious beliefs among school students, and enhancing Islamic unity around the teachings of the Quran.

He said that the motto of the contest this year is "Quran, the Book of Islamic Awakening” and that recitation and memorization are its two categories.

He also noted that the Quranic event is organized concurrent with the 34th International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as international Quran contests for women, seminary students, and the visually-impaired.

It will conclude in a ceremony slated for April 26, he went on to say.
