TEHRAN (IQNA) – Police chief of northern Kunduz province in Afghanistan teaches the interpretation of Holy Quran to his personnel.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Hameed Hameedi says police should have some Islamic knowledge besides physical training.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News he taught the Holy Quran with interpretation to his personnel after noon prayers for 20 minutes daily and the practice has positive impact on the moral and behavior of police force.

The duties and responsibilities of police in the society demand that they should be furnished with knowledge and know what their responsibilities were, he said.

Hameedi added the purpose of teaching them with the translation and interpretation of the Quran was to make them aware of Islamic codes of conduct and other moral related issues.

A reporter who took part in the Quran teaching session by Hameedi said tens of policemen participated in the program every day.

Waisuddin Talash, the crime branch director, said he participated in the Quran teaching session every day and termed the step very positive.

He said police could enhance their Islamic knowledge through participating in the program.
