TEHRAN (IQNA) – At least 60 students from 33 countries are confirmed their participation in the upcoming international Quran competition for school students, an official said.

Mehdi Feyz, the cultural deputy of Iran’s Education Ministry, said they will compete in the categories of memorization and recitation in two sections, one for girls and the other for boys.

The fifth edition of the Quranic event is slated to kick off in the Iranian capital of Tehran on April 20.

Feyz said the Education Ministry will organize the contest with the support and coordination of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

He added that Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) will host the international competition.

There will also be sideline programs for the participating students aimed at familiarizing them with different aspects of Iran’s civilization and culture, Feyz went on to say.
